I wouldn't say these are super air tight or anything but they are good enough and I have not found any bugs in the sugar etc (which says alot because I live in Hawaii where we have alot of cockroaches and bugs etc--bugs that actually bore holes into sealed unopened paper flour bags) and I live in a particularly wet area and I have found no problems. I have stored cornstarch, brown sugar, popcorn etc. and they are all fine and makes the counter have a little "sparkle" since these look so organized and polished. So convenient to measure out brown sugar and dry goods too. I'm going to order another set for other dry goods (ie cornmeal etc.)

I purchased two sets of the Anchor Hocking 32oz Emma Jar with Glass Lid (4 pack) for storage of pantry items such as rice and dried beans. Since I have pantry storage that is open to the rest of the kitchen, these were an attractive as well as practical solution. The jars are very hardy and made of thick glass. The reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because of the lids. They seal well enough to keep your items away from moisture and pests, but the seal isn't super tight due to the fact that the casing around the lid is a hard plastic material as opposed to something more flexible like rubber or silicon. Because of the looser seal, you must resist the urge to pick up the jars by the lids. This is very inconvenient when you have many of these jars on a shelf. The lid is the perfect size to pick up the jar with one hand, but unfortunately I have to use two hands to get a firm grip on the jar.
A helpful tip on cleaning the jars once you get them: seperate the plastic casing from the lid because otherwise, it traps water around the lid rim. Also, be prepared to use some "elbow grease" to remove the sticker from the jar bottom. Most of them do not come off easily, but I found that rubbing with a little bit of mineral oil does the trick.
