the jars have a pretty good seal, but not perfect. i used them to make kimchi and noticed that some juice came dripping from the lid. probably good for less intense storage though.
As mentioned they are not airtight, but they look very nice. I like items with steel. They dont seem of such high quality but for storing pasta that's more than enough! I'd buy it again without any hesitation
