I purchased this to fill with homemade peanut butter cookies for my grandfather for Christmas. For the guy who has everything, but doesn't want to bake, this turned out to be just what we needed. Be aware, although the jar IS glass and not plastic, the lid is made of less substantial material. I believe that the lid is tin or another type of thin metal, but the knob on the top of the lid is plastic. However, they matched well, and it's a handsome looking jar. You could use this for cookies, or for arts and craft supplies, or dry goods like noodles, or anything else. I would not recommend trying to pick up the jar by the lid (seems obvious, but I'm just putting it out there) as they weight of the glass jar would probably bend to gravity and you could end up with a broken cookie jar. The chalk label (chalk included) worked perfectly; it's not one of the cheaper quality, glassy-surfaced chalkboard varieties. You can right and erase smoothly and the chalk doesn't "skip" on the chalkboard area. I was really tickled with that accent, because it just added a feeling of charm to the whole thing. This made a great gift, full of homemade peanut butter cookies, with a shiny red bow tied to the lid and a handwritten label. Excellent price, snappy shipping, thorough packaging. I would buy this again, or recommend it to a friend.
