I probably should have figured that the lid was a push-on, not a threaded twist-on. There's a rubber seal around the glass, so in theory, there IS a seal... but I wonder how long that seal will last? I was hoping to use these to store flour (I know, I should be putting it in the freezer anyway, but until I get a larger fridge/freezer, there's just no room), but I'm nervous that the seal isn't good enough to keep out any little critters that like to burrow into flours.
Instead, I've started using them for cereal. That's something I go through a bit faster than flour, so I feel confident about keeping it in these -- plus one holds two normal-sized bags of cereal. Costco, here I come!
